The legend of Santa Claus is said to trace back hundreds of years to a monk named Saint Nicholas. He was born around 280 A.D. in modern-day Turkey. Admired for his piety and kindness he was the subject of many legends. He gave away all of his wealth and traveled the country helping the poor and sick. His feast day the anniversary of his death is celebrated on December 6. This day is now considered auspicious and lucky to make large purchases or to get married.In the 80’s and 90’s there was a full-blown pewter folk art boom. Stores everywhere carried it! From science centres, museums, fantasy shops, and even to garden centres you would find pewter everything! Christmas ornaments, dragons coiled around crystals, witches flying through the air, wizards leaning on staffs, unicorns mid-gallop, fairies mid flight, and mermaids wrapped around stones.Keep your candles burning beautifully!
